Planting systems must find a balance between growth and yield (penetration of radiation). The use of plant growth regulators is not permitted.

Planting systems must allow safer, more efficient spraying practices to be adopted (even distribution of pesticide on and in the canopy), that minimise spray drift. Planting distances must allow enough space for the plant throughout its expected life span without the use of growth regulators. A correct planting distance reduces humidity inside the row and therefore prevents diseases.
