In olive-groves where irrigation is applied, the water supply should cover the water requirements of the plant during critical stages, i.e. fruit set and oil accumulation stage.

The evaluation of water requirement should be based on evapotranspiration; deficit irrigation method (water supply is reduced below levels defined by evapotranspiration and mild stress is allowed) is also advised to maximize yield and quality.
