Pests
Onion fly: Use of sterile male technique where possible and when needed otherwise seed treatments.
Thrips: Treatments should only be made after field inspections. Immigration of thrips from adjacent crops of Alliacea fields to be considered.
Diseases
Storage diseases (e.g. Botrytis spp): Prompt and appropriate drying after harvest and avoid excessive humidity during storage.
Weeds
Stale seed beds should be used.
Low dose band treatments are recommended.
