Hannes Baur is research associate at the Department of Invertebrates of the Natural History Museum Berne, Switzerland.

His research interests are mainly focused on the taxonomy and systematics of Holarctic Pteromalidae (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea). Current reasearch concentrates on taxonomic revisions of several genera. In the past he also published on Leucospidae and Eulophidae (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea), as well as on Central European grasshoppers and allied insects. A special research topic is morphometry, i.e. the application of multivariate statistical methods for identifying and describing parasitic Hymenoptera.

Since 1998 he is convenor of the commission for “Determination and identification of entomophagous insects and insect pathogens”. In 2005 he published “Determination list of entomophagous insects. Nr. 14” in IOBC-WPRS Bulletin 28(11).
