Islem YANGUI

Short CV

Islem Yangui is an Assistant Professor at the Higher Institute of Agronomy of Chott Mariem (University of Sousse). She teaches core subjects, including Plant Ecology and Plant Biology.

She earned her PhD in Biological Engineering in 2019 from the National Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (INSAT), with the research conducted in collaboration with the National Research Institute for Rural Engineering, Water and Forests (INRGREF). Her doctoral work focused on Forest Pathology, producing essential findings on Biscogniauxia mediterranea, a pathogen of cork oak (Quercus suber L.), encompassing its characterization and biocontrol strategies.

Concurrently with her academic role, Dr. Yangui serves as a Researcher at INRGREF since 2015 and acts as a Scientific Collaborator in Forest Pathology for the General Directorate of Forestry (DGF) in Tunisia. In this capacity, she leverages her expertise to diagnose and identify forest pathogenic fungi and evaluate crucial pathogen dynamics and management strategies.

Her research portfolio centers on understanding fungal pathogens affecting North African forest species. This focus has led to several Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) at the Plant Protection Laboratory, University of Tuscia, Italy. Dr. Yangui is a prolific contributor to her field. She is the co-author of 60 original scientific publications in International Journals with Impact Factor and has delivered over 25 communications at international and national scientific conferences.

Her professional commitment is further demonstrated by her service as a Scientific Committee Member for the IOBC-WPRS Working Group Meeting on “Integrated Protection in Oak Forests” (2022 and 2025).
