Garden chafer (Phyllopertha horticola) and European cockchafer (Melolontha melolontha) monitoring of beetles and white grubs in the orchard

Abstract: The experiments were conducted in 2010-2011. The biological activity of traps with attractants (three types) and identification of adult flight period of the garden chafer (Phyllopertha horticola L.) and European cockchafer (Melolontha melolontha L.) were evaluated. The number of beetles attracted to traps depended on the trap location in the orchard as well as on the type of dispenser used. Beetle flight period varied depending on the season. The main flight of garden chafer occurred during the first half of June and European cockchafer in first half of May.
