Abstract: Several species of Lepidoptera do not overwinter successfully in the UK and arrive annually as ‘migrants’. Of these, two species, silver Y moth (Autographa gamma) and diamond-back moth (Plutella xylostella), are sporadic, but occasionally very damaging, pests of vegetable and salad crops. This paper provides an overview of the current situation and recent research, funded by the UK Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), which has considered approaches that might improve overall management of these pest Lepidoptera in the UK.
