Morphological traits of Agriotes obscurus and Agriotes ustulatus(Coleoptera: Elateridae) larvae

Abstract: From 2007 until 2009 Agriotes larvae were collected at several sites in Upper andLower Austria. These larvae were determined with molecular methods. As it is still a verycomplicated task to determine the Agriotes larvae based on morphological traits, we decided tohave a closer look at the already reliably determined larvae under the scanning electronmicroscope (SEM). Up until now, no pictures of the morphological traits have been publishedand especially no pictures of individuals determined with molecular methods.
