Abstract: There is no effective fungicide treatment to control Verticillium wilt and resistance
breeding is a preferred strategy for disease management. However, only a few Verticillium wilt resistance genes have been identified, and monogenic resistance against Verticillium sp. has not yet been found. The aim of this work was to evaluate resistance to Verticillium wilt caused by V. longisporum in oilseed rape breeding materials originating from three Polish breeding companies. The study was done using 184 breeding lines tested in 2021-2024. The evaluation of disease symptoms was done under controlled greenhouse conditions, in two periods of two consecutive years each. Disease symptoms were scored on a 1-9 scale. The disease severity in Polish winter oilseed rape breeding materials ranged from 1.07 to 6.6, with the median 2.3 to 4.0, which shows a great variability of this trait among the tested plant materials.
