Abstract: Fusarium pathogens infect wheat florets at anthesis causing Fusarium Head Blight. Ferulic acid, an antioxidant compound, is already present in flower tissues at flowering. Wheat varieties with high FA content in flower tissues showed an elevated spike resistance. FA might play an important role in resistance of spikes against F. graminearum infection.
