Abstract: We demonstrate a method to monitor gene-expression at single-cell level in obligate microbe – plant interactions. It is a sensitive and specific method to localise expressed genes of interest along spatiotemporal gradients. This method has the potential to rapidly increase our understanding key processes involved in complex plant – microbe interactions on single cell level.
