Use of resistance overcoming CpGV isolates and CpGV resistance situationof the codling moth in Europe seven years after the first discoveryof resistance to CpGV-M

Abstract: New Cydia pomonella granulovirus (CpGV) isolates Madex Plus/Madex 100 orMadex Max have been registered and commercialised in Austria, Germany, Holland, Italy andSwitzerland. In most plots with resistance problems the codling moth (CM) populations werereduced to a satisfactory level by using these resistance overcoming CpGV isolates.More highly virulent resistance overcoming CpGV isolates are available today and offerpossibilities for virulence management by changing the virus isolates every few years in order toprevent further resistance development.
