Volatile methyl salicylate induces systemic signalling in the phylloxerated root system of hybridised Vitis spp.

Abstract: Root phylloxeration stimulates the biosynthesis of methyl salicylate in root gall tissue below-ground. The salicylic acid signaling pathway, efficient against host pathogens, is activated locally in phylloxera root galls and systemically within root tips in the vicinity.
