Abstract: Microbial biocontrol agents have to be registered following the rules of the ECRegulation 1107/2009 (EC2009), which demands information on ecophysiologicalproperties and on the risks and safety of biological products. Penicillium frequentanssurvive actively over a wide range of environmental conditions. The probability of risksto human and animal health is considered to be remote in terms of mycotoxic production,and there is commercial active material capable to inhibit fungus growth.
