Abstract: The presented paper provides an overview of formulations and the current
registration status of BLUEFUME® (active substance hydrogen cyanide – HCN) in EU and
other regions. It also brings preliminary results on the fumigation potential of BLUEFUME®
on various pest species conducted in GEP regime. Biological efficacy was tested on various
development stages (adults, larvae, pupae, and eggs) of the khapra beetle, Trogoderma
granarium (Coleoptera: Dermestidae), in rice, and the lesser grain borer, Rhyzopertha dominica (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae), in wheat. In a fumigation chamber, pest survival following the introduction of the initial BLUEFUME® (HCN) dose of 2, 5, 10 and 12 g/m3
and various exposure times (6, 24 and 48 hours) was tested. BLUEFUME® showed 100 % efficacy on all developmental stages of T. granarium and R. dominica at all the tested initial doses and exposure times.
