IOBC-WPRS special activity on non-target risk assessment and regulation

Abstract: Within the IOBC-WPRS working group “GMOs in Integrated Plant Production”, a special activity on “Non-target risk assessment and regulation” was running from 2005 to 2013. Within this activity a group of experts has developed and published a tiered non-target risk assessment approach for insect-resistant GM crops (2008), proposed criteria for selecting test species for early-tier laboratory studies (2013), and provided guidance and recommendations on the experimental design for early-tier laboratory studies (2011). In this paper the work of this expert group is summarized.
