Abstract: Many factors influence the adoption of biopesticides in the marketplace. Some arehampering biopesticide, other favour them. Changes in legislation, and in political, cultural andsocial perceptions determine the demand for sustainable crop protection agents. Research andtechnological discoveries create new possibilities for development of better products.Globalisation opens new markets and offers potential usages, but also creates more problemssuch as invasive pests and diseases. Trends in the biopesticide industry stimulate new productsand markets. The current macro-environmental trends support the assumption that demand foralternative crop protection products will grow rapidly to replace conventional chemicalpesticides.
